Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, making a strong understanding of modern cardiology essential for every healthcare professional. Practical Cardiovascular Medicine is a comprehensive, evidence-based clinical reference that bridges the gap between foundational knowledge and real-world patient management.
Whether you are preparing for examinations, beginning your clinical rotations, managing patients in practice, or refreshing your knowledge of current cardiovascular care, this book provides the practical guidance needed to make informed clinical decisions.
Unlike condensed review books that focus only on memorization, this comprehensive guide explains why diseases develop, how to recognize them early, and how to apply current diagnostic and treatment strategies in clinical practice.
Inside this comprehensive guide, you'll discover:
- Comprehensive cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology explained with clinical relevance
- Step-by-step approaches to evaluating chest pain, dyspnea, syncope, palpitations, hypertension, and other common cardiovascular presentations
- Practical interpretation of ECGs, echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, stress testing, and cardiac catheterization
- In-depth coverage of coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, myocardial infarction, and evidence-based reperfusion strategies
- Modern management of heart failure, including HFrEF, HFpEF, cardiogenic shock, and advanced heart failure therapies
- Complete review of cardiac arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, conduction disorders, pacemakers, ICDs, and cardiac resynchronization therapy
- Detailed explanations of valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, pericardial disease, pulmonary vascular disease, and aortic disorders
- Practical guidance on cardiovascular pharmacology, including antihypertensives, antiplatelets, anticoagulants, lipid-lowering therapies, antiarrhythmics, heart failure medications, and emerging therapies
- Current approaches to preventive cardiology, cardiovascular risk reduction, lifestyle medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, and long-term patient management
- Special considerations for older adults, pregnancy, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, obesity, athletes, and critically ill patients
- Hundreds of clinical pearls, diagnostic tips, treatment algorithms, and evidence-based recommendations that support everyday decision-making
- Board-style review questions with detailed explanations to reinforce learning and prepare for examinations
