Folio. 10.5 x 13.5 inches. Approximately 189 pp each numbered separately. Bound in original raised morocco, boards with blind stamped and gilt double borders; spine in compartments with raised bands decorated gilt. Binding signed, J. Kelly, Binder, 16 Gower Place. All edges gilt. Some wear and staining to extremities and foxing but otherwise a very good copy. Armourial bookplate. Illustrated by 36 engraved plates and by armourial engravings at head of each section. Originally published in parts, a Second Series of this work appeared in 1846. Each of the 36 plates is followed by a biography of 2-12 pages. COPAC gives the editor as Henry Thomas Ryall (1811-67) who also engraved some of the plates (e.g. those of Wellington and Peel).
