A large collection of personal photos from Biagio Pinto (1911-1989), an artist known for his paintings as well as photography. There are approximately 500 photos with about 450 8x10 photos, mostly black and white with a few in color and about 50 snapshots and some slightly larger than snapshot photos. Most of these photographs, date from the 1960s with a few earlier and a few later. They appear to be mostly personal photos of Pinto's family, with images of his wife, Sarala, a sculptor and a few of his daughter (I believe), Gina. There are photos of artwork, ballet, artists, fashion shots, and about 25 nude photos of his wife. The majority of the larger photos are stamped on the verso "Biagio Pinto," with various addresses in Philadelphia. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Biagio, along with his brothers Angelo and Salvatore, were enrolled in the Barnes Foundation art education program at an early age and all later worked full time as artists. Dr. Albert Barnes was a fan of the brothers from early on and gave them scholarships for study and travel. Artwork from Biagio is in the permanent collections of the Barnes Foundation, The Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Dale Museum of Contemporary Art, etc. He also has one man exhibits at the Bignour Gallery in Paris, the Valentine Gallery in New York, the Makler Gallery in Philadelphia, etc. There are also a few photos of Pinto, as well, with at least two marked as being by Stanley Feurerstein. The photos were found in a box and have a slight curl to the edges. Some has bends and/or creases, though most are in good condition. A fascinating collection.
