In the year 1951 or 52 or 53, or at most in 1956, a father and son lived in Madrid. When Pepito is brutally separated from his father, he survives on the roof of their building. It is a huge roof -- covered with laundry and a kind of attic storage room. From the roof you could see the surrounding rooftops, on the other side of the street and even those far away. Excellent short novel about a boy who faces loneliness in times of civil war.
