Book is very fine, bright red with gilded lettering at spine and front. jacket is very fine with very slight wear at spine ends and front corner. jacket is unclipped ($12.95). This is a first printing, no Caldacott award sticker affixed to jacket. Book is inscribed by Sendak to . on ffe. Sendak a master illustrator, has used his vast skills beautifully to tell the story of a sisters brave rescue of her baby sister by goblins after her mother who was in the garden and whose father was at sea were not around to keep the goblins away. This is the third book in a trilogy of books which begins with the author's perhaps greatest illustrated book, Where the Wild Things Are. He received the 1964 Caldecott Medal for Where the Wild Things Are; the 1970 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration; the 1983 Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, given by the American Library Association in recognition of his entire body of work; and a 1996 National Medal of Arts in recognition of his contribution to the arts in America. In 2003, he received the first Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, an international prize for children's literature established by the Swedish government.
