Paperback. Ornery Cuss is a grubby coming-of-age tale about a sharp-edged loner who runs away from a stifling rural community and into the arms of Chicago's raw chaos. Through a series of sketchy roommates, unconventional relationships, and the working class high jinks of kitchens and funeral homes, she fumbles forward with a stubborn resilience. Equal parts rough, darkly funny, and tender, the novel traces a jagged path toward self-definition. No shortcuts taken nor lessons learned any way but the hard way.
