ENGRAVED TITLE ONLY. This atlas emerged during a period of intense interest in global mapping and colonial expansion. The inclusion of both modern and ancient maps reflects British intellectual curiosity and a desire to frame the contemporary world in historical perspective. Teesdale collaborated on several atlas projects; this edition helped shape public understanding of geography at a time when visual information was becoming more vital to education and travel. Engraving 32 x 42 cms, sheet 37 x 47 cms. Some damp markings to the margins, and a little browning round all the edges, There are no tears or other damage. It would look quite attractive in a mount.
