Print on Demand. This book explores the emergence of realism in French literature from the fourteenth to the sixteenth centuries. At the crossroads of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the author traces the slow ascent of a literary movement that sought to depict the world as people saw it around them. The author details how writers such as Pà trone and Apulà eâ"not traditionally regarded as realistsâ"nevertheless introduced realistic elements into their works, foreshadowing the movement to come. The book traces the growing fascination with the real world in art and literature, and through the analysis of medieval literature, sculptures, paintings, and tapestries, the author argues that this new approach to capturing the world as it was, as it happened, was not simply a passing trend, but was part of a larger intellectual shift. The author concludes by establishing this literary movement not as a simple imitation of reality, but as a means of understanding it, thereby providing a foundation for the great works of realism that followed. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
