Item description from seller

Landscape near Edinburgh: on the left, between a cliff-face and trees, a man leading a laden horse around a bend in a path towards the viewer, men and women to right, an overgrown ruined building with a round tower behind them and a bridge across a river and a church at the foot of a mountain in the distance. From a set of various landscapes by Sandby. According to a note in the catalogue of the British Museum [see inv. 1850,1014.538], the impressions on laid paper in brown ink are generally early states than those impressed on china and thin paper. Etching on laid paper in brown ink; total: 176 x 223 mm; on the top margin three regions in which the paper is thinner due to the removal of previous mounting; some rubbing in the front, especially in the sky, otherwise very nice impression. Schotland - Edingburgh - Sandby.…
