Synopsis:

Organic beer is made in small batches from only organically grown barley, malt, wheat, hops, yeast and spring water. There are neither additives nor genetically-modified ingredients; everything grows as nature intended, giving a purer, more wholesome taste. The Organic Beer Guide will not, however, limit itself to beer; there will also be a section on cider, which sells in similarly large numbers and uses very similar processes of manufacture. After a brief history of the growth of the organic market and a description of the brewing process, the heart of the book will focus on the ales, bitters, lagers, pilsners and ciders themselves. Brewery by brewery, brand by brand, around the world, the best organic beers and ciders will be discovered. There will be a short history of the brewery and the range of drinks they produce, with details of any special ingredients they use, followed by the author's own tasting notes. Market leaders in each country will receive longer entries, explaining why and how they have attained their exalted place in the organic kingdom. The Organic Beer Guide is the first book of its type to celebrate this fast-growing category of the specialist drinks market.
