Neuware - Originally published in 1960, Captain Franz Roeder's ability to bring to life the rigours in the Hessian Lifeguards during Napoleon's ill-fated invasion of Russia in 1812-13, together with Helen Roeder's skilful narrative, make this book one of the most compelling accounts of the sufferings of the Napoleonic Army. This is both an impelling personal story and a document of outstanding historical interest.
