Anmerkungen / beschriftet / Stempel; Verschmutzung; Leichte Verformung / umgeknickte Seiten; Starke Gebrauchsspuren; Einriss bis 1 cm. The theory of optimal control systems has evolved significantly since the 1960s, with numerous texts available at varying levels of complexity. However, many beginner-oriented books are often laden with intricate theorems and neglect essential topics necessary for a comprehensive understanding of optimal control. This work offers an accessible yet thorough exploration of the subject, balancing mathematical rigor with practicality. It serves as a solid bridge between traditional optimization through calculus of variations and modern optimal control, addressing both continuous-time and discrete-time systems to equip students with a robust understanding of both methods. Notably, each topic or problem is accompanied by a summary table that outlines the problem and provides a step-by-step solution. Additionally, students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard MATLAB and SIMULINK software, including the Control System and Symbolic Math Toolboxes. With diverse applications in fields ranging from power engineering to medicine, a foundation in optimal control systems is crucial for engineers. This clear and concise presentation is well-suited for graduate-level courses and as a quick reference for practicing engineers.…
