Paperback. From First Incision to Final Follow-Through - The Reference That Operates the Way You Do Most surgical references force a choice: the atlas that shows you the steps but never the reasoning, or the tome so dense you cannot find the answer while the patient is on the table. This one refuses that trade-off. Written in the voice of an experienced operating surgeon, it walks you from the decision to operate through the anatomy, the technique, the bailout, and the postoperative days where outcomes are truly settled - the honest, at-the-table judgment that separates a good operation from a good result. Every operation is treated as a complete arc: why you are operating, what can go wrong, and exactly what to do when it does. Critical values sit where you can find and trust them in seconds, never buried in prose. The result is a working companion you return to before a case, after a difficult one, and across an entire career.Decision-to-operate reasoning woven into every chapter, so you know not just how, but when and whyDedicated bailout and complication guidance for the moment the routine operation turns difficultFull-color edition with realistic, teaching-focused clinical images - clean, uncluttered, and labeled only where it mattersPerioperative and postoperative management given the depth other references skip entirelyCoverage spanning the common index conditions every general surgeon manages, open and minimally invasiveRecognition of the deteriorating patient and source-control principles that prevent avoidable deathsBuilt for residents and board candidates, and trusted as a bedside reference well beyond trainingStep into the operating room prepared for the expected and the unexpected alike.
