Emily Carter has always believed that stories have the power to heal. As the owner of a quiet neighborhood bookstore, she finds comfort in the pages of forgotten classics, convinced that love exists only in fiction. But everything changes the night she meets James-a gifted yet mysterious artist whose haunting paintings seem to conceal a lifetime of pain.
Their chance encounter sparks an irresistible connection, drawing Emily into a world where beauty and darkness exist side by side. As their love blossoms, so do the secrets James has spent years burying. Anonymous messages, unexplained disappearances, and relentless threats reveal that someone is determined to destroy the life James has painstakingly rebuilt.
Refusing to abandon the man she loves, Emily begins unraveling the truth behind his hidden past. Every clue uncovers another layer of betrayal, guilt, and deception, leading them toward a dangerous enemy whose thirst for revenge has never faded. When the past finally catches up with them, Emily and James must confront impossible choices where trust becomes their greatest weapon-and love their greatest vulnerability.
Set against the backdrop of charming bookstores, abandoned mills, breathtaking art studios, and secluded countryside cottages, Once Upon a Love is a gripping literary fiction novel that explores the fragile boundaries between forgiveness and revenge, hope and despair, truth and illusion. Rich with emotional depth, unforgettable characters, and heart-pounding suspense, the story reveals that love is not a fairy tale but a courageous choice made in the face of fear.
As old wounds reopen and shocking revelations threaten everything they cherish, Emily and James discover that the greatest masterpiece is not painted on canvas but written in the sacrifices people make for those they love. Sometimes, every "once upon a time" begins with a secret... and every true love story demands a price before it can earn its happily ever after.
