Title: Omnia Romanae cedant miracula Terrae.
Publisher: Nuremberg, 1720
Binding: Soft cover
Book Condition: Very Good
Unusual antique map from an atlas by Weigel of 1720. It shows in great detail the topography and places of interest of ancient and also Christian Rome. Original coloring in light yellow and green. Shown are the walls of the city, the prominent buildings and churches, the roads, and the water courses. Cartouche at upper left corner showing river god and the legendary wolf of Romulus and Remus. A beautiful engraving mounted on piece of heavy cardboard. Fold line at center is hardly noticeable. An example of this map sold at auction in 2003 for $110 excluding commissions but it had a very heavily browned fold line that detracted seriously from the attractiveness of the image. This a very pleasing, framable piece that will be shipped flat since it is mounted. Bookseller Inventory # 2295
