It is, I trust, from no waywardness or ingratitude to others that I must claim to be an independent worker in this field. Few probably, who have reviewed the evidence with any care, would hold that the works on Codex Bezae hitherto published have foreclosed further discussion of the questions suggested by its eccentricities.

It is due to two of my immediate predecessors in the study of this ms. That I should brieﬂy allude to their work.
