Print on Demand. This early 20th-century novel, set in the competitive world of provincial theatre, provides a thought-provoking exploration of ambition, art, and the pursuit of recognition. The protagonist is Eliphalet Cardomay, a talented actor who dreams of achieving greatness. When he is suddenly offered the chance to star in a major London production, he must navigate the treacherous waters of a ruthless industry and confront his own inner demons. As Eliphalet grapples with the complexities of the theatrical world, the author delves into themes of artistic integrity, the tension between classic and modern acting styles, and the sacrifices one must make in the pursuit of their passions. Through the character of Eliphalet, the author presents a nuanced portrayal of the challenges and rewards of a life dedicated to the stage, ultimately questioning what it means to truly succeed as an artist. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

A visit to any modern French Art Gallery will reveal a number of canvases daubed all over with little patches of primary colours, almost as though the picture had been painted with confetti. Assuming you are unaccustomed to this form of application, you Will declare against it with insular promptitude. But 'give the picture a chances step back and view it from the far wall, and like as not you will find that these chaotic colours have blended and co mingled, have ceased to exist as individual items and become merged in a single statement of meaning the artist intended to convey.
It is not always want of a single material that persuades the fashioning of a patchwork quilt. Patchwork, in its way, is as complete as are the green plush curtains that hang so soberly from the lacquered pole in your neigh bour's parlour.
