About the Author: Doreen N. Uhas Sauer is active with the University District Organization, the University Area Commission, and the University Community Association. She and her husband live along Iuka Ravine, teaching, collecting, and writing history. Stuart J. Koblentz is president of the Marion County Historical Society. Koblentz and his partner are longtime Glen Echo residents. The University District Organization, a consortium of university, business, and community entities, has been the major planning organization for the university neighborhoods since 1971.
