The Occasional Trainer helps you to quickly select strategies and prepare sessions using your current knowledge and skills. There is no need to reinvent yourself; you can use your current strengths to succeed in whatever training situation you are dealing with. This book helps by introducing or refreshing key elements of effective training. The content is selected to suit people who do occasional training to help their colleagues or customers. It frequently focuses on training room dynamics because teaching a group in a training room is a daunting challenge for many. However, the content is just as relevant for training individuals or small groups on the job in the workplace. The Occasional Trainer guides you through: The nature of training and different ways it is doneHow to match training to the needs of participants, engaging people to learn in a safe environmentIdentifying ways to close the gap between current abilities and learning outcomesPlanning training processes that engage participantsCoordinating segments and resourcesPreparing for training deliveryUsing your personal style to deliver and encourage peopleThe ethics of trainingDeveloping your skills as a presenterThe extra challenges of delivering training during change projectsHow to reliably track progress and outcomesThe Occasional Trainer is a great support for your next training session, helping you to confidently lead others as they learn. With its person centered approach you can draw out the best from participants for excellent results. You will find no need to fear problem situations with insights and practical options you can use for dealing with challenging people to get them on board with your training process. This is a great book for new and seasoned trainers. Experienced trainers will find familiar concepts refreshed as well as new topics often left uncovered in training accreditation programs, such as the ethics of training and the dynamics of delivering training during change projects.
