Item description from seller

viii, [1], 14-248, 8 p. 20 cm. Black cloth. Corners worn, boards warped, spine ends chipped and torn. Bookplate on front pastedown, ink stamps and signatures on front endpapers. Dampstains and foxing. Ink signature p. 163. A pompous Englishman explores the U.S. and Canada in 1832 and comments on the harshness of the New York climate, American prejudices, the wonders of Niagara, and the roaming habits of Canadian cattle. But see The North American Review No. LXXXI, October 1833, pp. 273-314 for an amusing review of this book by a clever Bostonian, who pokes holes in many of Fidler's arguments.
