With a printed label affixed to the verso, along with manuscript ink and pencil annotations. Based on the 1898 novel "Le femme et le patin" ("The Woman and the Puppet") by Pierre Louys, which follows the tempestuous relationship between a wealthy, middle-aged Frenchman and a young Spanish dancer. The woman is played by both Carole Bouquet and Angela Molina interchangeably, demonstrating the character's mercurial nature, a decision Buñuel came to in desperation after original actress Maria Schneider proved a poor fit, but that ultimately helped define the film as one of his late masterpieces.
