El descubrimiento del paisaje oculto por un fondo negro, añadido siglos después de su creación, ha movido los renglones de la historia del arte, las portadas de los periódicos, las radios y los telediarios, para convertirse en un nuevo referente pictórico, y en perfecto estado de conservación.
El cuadro, intachable y sereno, no apareció hasta que las casualidades se alinearon con el talento y la transformaron en estrella de la noche a la mañana. Desde hace un año, Las Meninas de Velázquez y La maja desnuda de Goya comparten su protagonismo en el Prado con una pintura que hasta hace poco era un patito feo en la colección.
La otra Gioconda es la crónica del mayor hallazgo de la historia del arte en el último siglo. Peio H. Riaño, testigo privilegiado de los intensos momentos que vivieron los investigadores del museo cuando desvelaron el secreto, rastrea las huellas que esta misteriosa pintura dejó en su nacimiento en el taller de Leonardo da Vinci, y anticipa las claves que revelan quién es su autor, quién es la retratada, cómo llegó a España, dónde estuvo antes de pasar a la colección del museo, quién mandó cubrir el paisaje y por qué, o qué beneficios económicos reporta una pintura como ésta a un museo como el Prado.
Historiador del arte y periodista, padre de Lucas y Teo e hijo de una secretaria de hospital y un maestro de escuela. Cree en las humanidades y en las ciencias sociales como inspiración de la soberanía ciudadana y es autor del ensayo visual Conductas envenenadas (2007), del libro de cuentos ilustrados junto a Sonia Pulido Chromorama (2008), de la novela Todo lleva carne (2008), de las crónicas La otra Gioconda. El reflejo de un mito (2013) y del ensayo cultural Las invisibles (2020). Está ligado a las redacciones de periódicos y revistas desde hace más de veinte años y ha sido redactor jefe de cultura en Calle 20, Público, El Confidencial y El Español. En 2014 ganó el Premio de Periodismo Cultural José Luis Gutiérrez por el reportaje «Académicos insumisos», jurado compuesto por veteranos profesionales del oficio destacó su «forma renovadora y crítica de entender el periodismo cultural, basado siempre en la indagación y el trabajo de fuentes y obstinado en resaltar las contradicciones y paradojas de nuestro tiempo». Actualmente colabora con el programa de RTVE La aventura del saber y trabaja en elDiario.es.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to World Wide Books, Sevilla, Sevilla, Spain, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
