Early ink ownership signature on front free endpaper. Light scattered foxing throughout, otherwise very good. The first Ohio guide and gazetteer issued in Ohio. Originally published in 1816, this ninth edition was issued in November, 1829 and is dedicated to the Marquis de Lafayette, who became the namesake of Fayette County, Ohio in 1810, and with whom the author spoke at length during Lafayette's Grand Tour of the United States in the mid-1820s. The preface is dated 1829 and Kilbourn's folding map dated 1828. The book contains information on the character and manners of the populace, religion, education, natural resources, climate, trade and manufacturing, government and provides an alphabetized list of cities, towns, villages, rivers, streams and other places of geographic importance, each with a brief description.
