Blue pictorial covers with gilt titling on cover and spine. Great Petersham illustration of two young children and a goat. Fantastic full color map endpapers. Hundreds of illustrations to accompany music, rhymes and tales, all by by Maud and Miska Petersham. This husband and wife collaboration lasted over 50 years and yielded over 120 books, with this one being on the earliest. Multiple Caldecott medals. This book was one of four to win the American Institute of Graphic Arts Exhibition. Translated by Olive Beaupre Miller. This children's book must not have been used by children for it is free of any flaws or markings inside and out. Near fine. Now protected with an archival-quality mylar cover.
