Light wear to spine, covers & corners.; 17.7 x 12.5 x 1.1 cms; 175 pages; Denis Guedj (1940 â" April 24, 2010) was a French mathematician, historian of science, and author renowned for his efforts to make mathematics accessible and engaging to the public. Born in Sà tif, Algeria, he relocated to Paris in 1957, where he pursued studies in mathematics. In 1969, he became one of the founding members, alongside Claude Chevalley, of the mathematics department at the Centre Universitaire Expà rimental de Vincennes, which later evolved into the Università de Paris VIII. At this institution, Guedj taught the history of science and epistemology, maintaining a steadfast commitment to the principles of a people's university by refraining from administrative roles.
