From the Anthony Award–winning author of Vanessa's Men and Panic Attack comes a classic New York crime thriller about money, marriage, betrayal—and the friends who can destroy you.
CAN YOU TRUST YOUR FRIENDS?
Joey DePino is out of work, out of money, and running out of time.
Trapped in a rundown apartment above a Hell’s Kitchen deli, buried in gambling debts, and hunted by men who don’t forgive, Joey needs a way out fast.
Then he thinks of David Sussman.
David has everything Joey doesn’t: a beautiful Upper East Side apartment, a successful advertising career, money, status, and the perfect family. But David’s life isn’t as perfect as it looks. He’s hiding a dangerous affair, a mistress who won’t let go, and secrets that could blow up his marriage, his career, and everything he’s built.
Joey thinks David is the answer to his problems.
David thinks he can control the damage.
They’re both wrong.
When desperation turns into a sick, reckless plan, two families are dragged into a nightmare of betrayal, blackmail, obsession, and violence. Old friendships become weapons. Marriages become traps. And every lie leads to something worse.
In Nothing Personal, Jason Starr delivers a dark, razor-sharp New York noir about class envy, moral compromise, and the terrifying moment ordinary people decide they have nothing left to lose.
