Print on Demand. This book uses analytical prose to explore the social, religious, and philosophical clashes that occurred when slight variations in faith boiled over into public discord and strife. The author uses historical context to examine the relationship between faith and the inability of contemporaries to synthesize and reconcile religious ideas with one another, using England during the seventeenth century as a case study. This book examines the futility of religious bloodshed, the societal fractures caused by religious divisions, the relationship between faith and fear, and the role of government in calming religious tensions and preventing religious persecution. By examining how religious wars become normalized, the author sheds light on how we can learn from the mistakes of the past to prevent religious persecution in the future. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Biography and Autobiography
These are, as nearly as possible, the very words in Wilkins's novel, with no omission of the slightest importance: moreover, the blank-verse is quite regular, which cannot be said of hundreds of lines in the play, as printed in 1609. I am convinced that the play was made up from notes, in many instances much more imperfect than those whio Wilkins employed for his novel - that the two short-hand writers were, as it were, running a race for priority - that Wilkins was first ready with his prose narrative; and consequently that it came out in 1608, while the play was not com pleted for ublication until some time afterwards.
