Item description from seller

A new Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra subspecies is described: Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra mariachristina, endemic to Reef 21-281 in the Swain Reefs complex. Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra peristicta (McMichael, 1963) is a highly polytypic subspecies. The homogeneity of Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra peristicta from specific single reefs is tested. Specimens from Perfect Lagoon Reef present homogeneous and distinctive features. Specimens from Finger Reef exhibit homogeneous features. Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra coucomorum Bail & Limpus, 1998 has been originally described as very homogeneous. A variety of Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra coucomorum is highlighted, through the description of a particular form. New taxon: Cymbiola (Cymbiolacca) pulchra mariachristina n. ssp. 12 pp., 1 map, 6 color plates 4.
