Print on Demand. This book paints a vivid and impressionistic portrait of the author's early years spent in Canada, France, Italy, and England. Opening with cherished memories of a bustling family home, the author recalls the joys and tribulations of childhood amidst the backdrop of a privileged upbringing in the British colony of Quebec. She invites the reader into her cherished memories with an evocative account of her travels through both the literal and metaphorical landscapes of her life. The author deftly weaves together personal experiences and historical context, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of British colonials living in Quebec. Common customs and religious practices are detailed with an almost anthropological eye, and yet the author never loses sight of the essential human experience that binds us all together. She describes with candour the strictures of Victorian womanhood and her own rebellion against the constraints imposed on her. This volume is a captivating blend of autobiography, social history, and cultural commentary, offering insights into the nuances of growing up female and into one's sense of place in the world. It is a rich tapestry of people and places, of laughter and tears, and of the enduring power of human connection. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
