Whether you preside over meetings or attend them, Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules, Fifth Edition explains not only what Robert’s Rules of Order requires, but why the rules exist and how they are intended to work in real meetings. It provides the knowledge and confidence needed to run meetings that are efficient, effective, and fair.
“Notes and Comments on Robert's Rules, Fifth Edition provides the how and why of every aspect of parliamentary procedure and Robert’s Rules of Order. It gives readers the knowledge and confidence to get things done and an understanding of how to run an efficient, effective, and purposeful meeting.”
— Becky Pringle, President, National Education Association
ANSWERS YOU NEED NOW ABOUT ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER
For organizations that follow Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, including nonprofit associations, unions, HOA and condominium associations, houses of worship, and governmental bodies, the Twelfth Edition is the controlling parliamentary authority. At more than 700 pages, however, Robert’s Rules can be difficult to navigate and apply when questions arise during real meetings.
Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules, Fifth Edition makes Robert’s Rules more accessible by explaining the most commonly misunderstood and most frequently disputed provisions in a clear, question-and-answer format.
In this authoritative guide, you will find:
- Updated page and paragraph references to the Twelfth Edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised
- Extensive discussion of electronic, virtual, and hybrid meetings
- Practical advice drawn from decades of professional experience advising meetings ranging from small boards to conventions with 10,000 delegates
- Explanations of why specific provisions exist, not just what they say
- A comparison of Robert’s Rules with other commonly used parliamentary manuals
- Extensive notes exploring parliamentary differences and history for deeper understanding
- Simplified charts of parliamentary motions for quick reference
Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules has received the Phifer Award from the Commission on American Parliamentary Practice, an affiliate of the National Communication Association.
