Elsie Wyatt is a born French horn player, just like her father and her grandfather before her. In order to qualify for the prestigious summer music camp of her dreams, she must expand her musical horizons and join--gasp --the marching band. There are no French horns in marching band, but there are some very cute boys. Elsie is not so sure she'll survive, but the new friends she's making and the actual fun she's having force her to question her dad's expectations and her own musical priorities.

Elsie Wyatt wants to be an orchestra superstar, like her dad and grandfather. The first step? Get into a super-selective summer music camp. In order to qualify, Elsie must expand her musical horizons by joining her high schools marching band. Not only does this mean wearing a plumed hat and polyester pants, but it also means she cant play her own instrument, cant sit down, and cant seem to say the right thing toanyone let alone Jake, the cute trumpet player she meets on the first day. Plus, everything she does seems to cause a disaster. Surviving marching band is going to beway harder than Elsie thought.

About the Author
Erin Dionne writes humorous books with heart for tweens. Her titles--which are very long--have been named to several state reading lists, ALA lists, and have received some nice attention. They include MODELS DON'T EAT CHOCOLATE COOKIES THE TOTAL TRAGEDY OF A GIRL NAMED HAMLET, and NOTES FROM AN ACCIDENTAL BAND GEEK. Her latest novel, MOXIE AND THE ART OF RULE BREAKING:A 14 DAY MYSTERY, has the longest title yet and is based on the real-life Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum art heist. She spends an inappropriate amount of time on Facebook, teaches writing at Montserrat College of Art, and lives outside of Boston with her husband, two children, and a very indignant dog.
