A very scarce to see Yorkshire periodical from the Regency period, a comprehensive register of the county, illustrated with six plates. A very scarce Regency periodical.'Northern Star' was a short lived Yorkshire periodical, published from 1817-1818. The periodical was a monthly register of the statistic, literature, biography, arts, commerce, and manufactures of Yorkshire and the adjoining counties.This volume is Volume III, and covers July to December 1818, with a total of six issues.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and five plates.Subjects of note covered in articles include slavery in America, a tour of Paris in 1818, Roman antiquities in York, the Medici family, an account of the author Mendelsohn, the death of Queen Charlotte, and more.This periodical provides an interesting insight into Northern England in the Regency era.Prior owner's contents list of plates and articles in this volume in ink to the recto of the front free endpaper. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, front board is held by one cord only, and may detach, even with careful handling. Rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Scorch mark to the tail of the front endpaper, and front free endpaper. Prior owner's contents list of plates and articles in this volume in ink to the recto of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional scattered spot. Good Only.
