A detailed technical study of 30 northern European metalpoint drawings in the British Museum, many featured in the 2015 exhibition Drawing in Silver and Gold. Using non-invasive imaging and chemical analysis, the authors reveal new insights into the materials and techniques used by artists such as Hendrick Goltzius. The study highlights key differences between northern and southern European practices and offers valuable comparisons with earlier research on Italian Renaissance drawings.
