In her paintings the artist combines motifs from art history as well as pop culture. She symbolically weaves themes such as youth, digitality, ecology, and the human form into multilayered narratives. By intertwining the familiar with the uncanny, Pfister's paintings probe the kinds of communities we might inhabit in the future
The dreamlike landscapes of Swiss painter Noemi Pfister (born 1991) are inhabited by distorted subjects lounging on skateboards or scrolling on their phones. While her formal language borrows from Old Master works, the figures' clothing, postures and props are unmistakable motifs of contemporary youth culture.
