Node.js in Practice: Building APIs, Databases, and Real-Time Applications is a practical guide to modern backend development with Node.js.
Starting with the foundations of Node.js and JavaScript, this book gradually introduces the concepts, tools, and development techniques used to create modern server-side applications. The chapters progress from the Node.js runtime and core modules to APIs, databases, authentication, security, testing, and real-time communication.
The book covers:
- Node.js fundamentals and application architecture
- Modern JavaScript concepts for backend development
- Core Node.js modules and npm
- Asynchronous programming and event-driven applications
- HTTP servers and REST APIs
- Express.js, routing, and middleware
- PostgreSQL and database-driven applications
- Authentication and authorization
- JWT-based security and API protection
- File systems and streams
- Testing, debugging, logging, and error handling
- WebSockets and Socket.IO
- Real-time communication and messaging
- Rooms, namespaces, and private communication
- Application performance and scalability
Throughout the book, practical examples and complete code samples demonstrate how these concepts can be combined to create functional backend applications. Database integration, secure authentication, API development, file processing, testing, and real-time features are presented as part of a connected development workflow.
Node.js in Practice is suitable for programmers, developers, students, software engineers, and technology professionals looking for a practical reference to Node.js application development.
From the fundamentals of the Node.js runtime to database-backed APIs and real-time applications, this book provides a structured foundation for developing modern backend systems with Node.js.
