Nineteen Eighty-Four' by George Orwell. This book is a 'The Observer Book of the Month Library' production. Produced in 1981 for the Observer by Martin Secker Warburg and first edition in this format. Originally first published in the UK by Secker Warburg in 1949. There are two patches of light scuff to the back board along with splash mark but overall this is an attractive production in pale blue boards with dark blue cloth spine and gilt coat of arms device to front board. There is very minor rub to tips and top and bottom of spine. Contents are clear and unmarked. Orwell's dystopian novel explores a society using manipulation of facts and rules by the utilising of mass surveillance and repression under a totalilarian state. Made into a successful film starting Johh Hurt as Winston Smith who work at the Ministry of Truth yet dreams of rebellion against the regime led by Big Brother. Not exlib and packed and sent with care.
