🔐 Own your cloud. Own your data. If you’re done with leaking privacy, rising SaaS costs, and unreliable “free” storage, it’s time to run Nextcloud on your terms—fast, secure, and production-ready.
⚠️ Most tutorials skip critical steps—DNS, SSL, reverse proxy, caching, backups, monitoring—so deployments break under real users.
✅ Good news: with a clear, reproducible path, self-hosting Nextcloud is dependable for home labs, small businesses, and teams.
➡️ That’s why I wrote “Nextcloud Self-Hosting Guide: Run Your Own Cloud, Control Your Data, Replace Dropbox & Google”, your practical companion to building a private cloud with Docker or the traditional LAMP stack, hardened with firewalls, Fail2ban, SSL, backups, and automated maintenance. This is more than a setup walkthrough—it’s your roadmap to a scalable, future-ready platform.
🚀 What you’ll master inside
- 🧭 Clean Architecture Choices: Docker-Compose vs. LAMP, when to use each, and how to migrate safely.
- 🌐 Domains & DNS: Registrar setup, A/AAAA/CNAME, and dynamic DNS for home servers that just work.
- 🔒 HTTPS the Right Way: Nginx reverse proxy + Let’s Encrypt/Certbot with secure defaults and auto-renew.
- 🗄️ Databases that scale: MariaDB or PostgreSQL with tuned buffers, indices, and safe upgrades.
- ⚡ Performance & Caching: PHP-FPM, Opcache, Redis file locking, previews, and upload reliability.
- 👥 User Management: Groups, quotas, external shares, and LDAP/Active Directory integration.
- 📚 Apps that matter: Calendar, Contacts, Mail, OnlyOffice/Collabora, and Talk for private video.
- 🛡️ Security Hardening: UFW/NFTABLES, two-factor auth, Fail2ban, and safe update routines.
- 🧳 Backups & DR: Verified database + file snapshots, restore drills, and runbook checklists.
- 📈 Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Monitoring, log analysis, and fast fixes for common issues.
🙌 Who it’s for: Beginners getting their first private cloud online, IT admins replacing SaaS, and power users scaling home servers without losing weekends.
💡 Why this book: Step-by-step procedures, production-safe defaults, and clear verification so every change is testable and reversible.
🔥 Stop renting your files. Start owning your platform.
