Print on Demand. This book discusses the Single Tax, a revolutionary economic reform proposed by Henry George in 1879. The author explains how the Single Tax would abolish all taxation on the products of human industry and raise the public funds by a single tax on land values only. The author argues that this system is just, sound, simple, adequate to the needs of government, and the only tax reform that guarantees the right of private property and is in full accord with the moral law. The Single Tax would break the monopoly of agricultural land, coal, oil, mineral land, timber land, waterpower land, and urban land. It would destroy the injurious power of the trusts, eliminate involuntary unemployment, raise the true wages of labor, and solve the problems of poverty, crime, and illiteracy. The author concludes that the Single Tax is the key to a just and prosperous society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
