Heyward Coleman served as a submarine officer in the US Nuclear Navy before entering a business career. His education includes a master’s degree in nuclear physics and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Initially in the oil and gas industry, he became a senior officer and part owner of a large oil shipping company. After selling his interest in the company, he founded an environmental laboratory that specialized in radiochemistry analysis. During his career he cultivated a love for travel and adventure. Now retired, he and his wife have three children and live in Charleston, South Carolina.
