Two fascinating and extensive volumes of newspaper clippings, dating from 1812-32 and carefully and lovingly compiled and pasted into these two volumes by Sir George Denys.These two volumes include clippings from many important historical events from that period of twenty years, encompassing the Napoleonic Wars, Regency Era, and coronation of William IV. Most notably these volumes include many clippings regarding the ongoing conflict with Napoleon, with details on important battles, Napoleon's exiles, and death in 1821.Important clippings included here look at; the assassination and funeral of Prime Minister Spencer Perceval and subsequent trial execution of John Bellingham, the death of the diarist Hester Thrale, the Ratcliff Highway murders, the 1814 eruption of Mount Mayon in the Philippines, Sarah Siddons' retiring from the stage, the Battle of Waterloo, the death of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the early death of Princess Charlotte of Wales, the death of King George III and subsequent coronation of George IV, the coronation of Daoguang Emperor, the death of Lord Byron, and more.Alongside prominent historical events from these years, the clippings include charming poems, marriage adverts, and articles of interest on subjects such as a character study on the personality of Napoleon Bonaparte, human combustion, Oliver Cromwell, a cure for hypochondria, Lord Nithsdale's escape from the Tower of London in 1716, Byron's 'Fare the Well' and 'A Sketch From Private Life', the game of chess, royal etiquette in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the execution of King Charles I, the toilet of a Roman lady, and more.Volume I includes clippings dating from 1812 to 1821, Volume II continues from 1821 to 1832.Broadsheet loosely inserted dated 1860, titled 'By the Queen a Proclamation, For the Encouragement of Piety and Virtue, and for the preventing and punishing of Vice, Proganeness, and Immorality'.Denys was a member of parliament for Kingston upon Hull from 1812 to 1818. Parker was a teacher and house master at Hereford Cathedral School for over twenty years. Generally known as Ege Parker, he was passionate about the study of history. In the original marbled calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with a damp stain to the front boards, and a heavier damp stain to the rear board of Volume II. Front joint of Volume I is starting, front hinge is strained, with the front endpaper working loose. Rear joint of Volume I is starting, with a small amount of loss to the tail. Minor marks to the boards. Bumping to the extremities. Spines and extremities are rubbed. Tail of the spine of Volume II is lifting a little. Crack to the tail of the front joint of Volume II. Rear hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with a little age-toning and light marks to the clippings. The very occasional ink note, including numerical ink to the verso of each leaf, and to the rear of Volume I. Good.

You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory. You can also electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us or Rooke Books PBFA, Level 4 The Old Malthouse, Clarence Street, BA1 5DS, Bath, United Kingdom, +44 1225448831, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
