About this Item

New York City transit map and station guide published between 1962 and 1968 by the New York City Transit Authority. Page unfolded measures 19" x 15.5" and folded 4.75" x 3.25". Charming pocket guide to New York City's public transport system before it was known as the "Subway", published circa 1967 by the New York City Transit Authority. Shows the various Rapid Transit lines, stations, connections, routes, etc. The New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) was created in 1953 and included the buses, streetcars and the IRT, BMT and IND subways. In 1968, the NYCTA and the MaBSTOA were placed under the control of the MTA, which is today the busiest and largest transit system in North America. This map was the last version to be issued under the NYCTA imprint, before the 1969 revisions. Verso of the map includes a detailed guide to each route with stations listed. A list of places to visit with direction is also included. The map is in very good condition with minimal wear along the folds. Seller Inventory # 325085
