Paperback. Six-year-old Pushpa has traveled halfway around the world, but her journey is only beginning. After leaving India and arriving in America, Pushpa must learn how to live in a world that feels completely unfamiliar. Everything is different-the people around her, the places she visits, the weather, the animals, the food, and even the small routines of everyday life. With her beloved powder-blue teddy bear, Blue Bear, close beside her, she watches carefully and tries to make sense of this strange new place one experience at a time.On a cold, rainy December morning in rural Oregon, Pushpa encounters a farm filled with unfamiliar sights, sounds, and animals. Some things make her curious. Others make her uncertain. And there are definitely some things-like the pigs-that she does not like at all.But My New World is about more than encountering new places. It is the story of a little girl beginning to discover the people who will become part of her life. In quiet moments, unexpected kindness, gentle humor, and small connections begin to make the unfamiliar feel a little less frightening. Pushpa does not suddenly forget the world she came from, nor does she instantly understand the new one around her. Instead, she begins the much slower journey of finding where she belongs.Based on author Pushpa Devi's true childhood memories, My New World is the second book in the Blue Bear Series, following Journey Home. Told through the eyes of a six-year-old child, the story explores belonging, identity, courage, kindness, and the wonder and uncertainty of experiencing an entirely new world. With Blue Bear always nearby, Pushpa discovers that courage does not always mean being unafraid. Sometimes courage is watching, wondering, trying something unfamiliar, sharing a smile, and taking one more small step forward.Warm, thoughtful, and filled with the honest observations of childhood, My New World invites young readers to consider what it feels like to be somewhere new-and how patience, humor, compassion, and kindness can help an unfamiliar place slowly begin to feel like home. For children ages 4-8, My New World continues one little girl's extraordinary true journey and celebrates the small moments of connection that can make a very big world feel a little less strange. Based on a true childhood story, a six-year-old girl discovers courage, kindness, connection, and belonging as she begins exploring her unfamiliar new world. This item is printed on demand. The journey is over. Now she must learn how to live in a whole new world.
My New World is Book Two in the Blue Bear Series, a heartfelt children's series inspired by the author's own childhood journey from India to America.
After the long journey in Journey Home, a young girl has arrived in America — but arriving is only the beginning.
Everything around her is different.
New people. New places. New sounds. New words. New experiences.
As she begins discovering this unfamiliar world, she tries to understand where she belongs and what this new life will mean. And through it all, one familiar friend is never far away:
Blue Bear.
Held close when the world feels strange, Blue Bear remains her trusted companion as she takes her first steps into a life unlike anything she has known before.
Told through a child's eyes and brought to life with beautiful illustrations, My New World is a gentle story about change, curiosity, courage, belonging, and finding comfort in the familiar while learning to embrace the new.
Perfect for children ages 4–8, families navigating big changes, and readers who have ever had to find their place somewhere new.
