A handbook for businesses on the way to self-organization
After five years of intense experience with New Work, we know: most approaches to introducing New Work, "teal organization" or self-organization take too short and are doomed to failure. Because they focus on the outer, visible dimension of change.
But any external change of structures and processes must necessarily be accompanied by an inner transformation. That's why we dedicate this book in particular to the "inner innovation" of teams. By this we mean the way employees and teams can mature and grow so that they can make their complex, flexible outside world more competent, safer and happier.
New Work needs Inner Work is a practice-oriented handbook in which we describe step-by-step how to introduce self-organization in a team or company. We combine the perspective of the entrepreneur (Joana, betterplace) and the coach (Bettina) to explore which competencies are important to break down hierarchies and work more flexibly and meaningfully, using organisational principles, concrete examples and exercises.
The authors
Joana Breidenbach is the founder of Germany's largest donation platform betterplace.org and the think-and-do tank betterplace lab.
Bettina Rollow develops new forms of organisation and leadership, including with the betterplace lab and Ashoka Germany.
