Print on Demand. This book, a compendium of essays and historical accounts, delves into the evolution of wartime tools and tactics throughout human history — from the Bronze Age up to the present day. The author provides a unique perspective on our species' uncanny ability to devise ever more efficient ways of killing each other, from the adoption of basic slings and bows to the development of the crossbow and the destructive power of gunpowder. The book uncovers the ingenious development of artillery, evaluates the impact of medieval weapons, and discusses the use of armor as a defensive countermeasure. The author also explores the transition to hand-held firearms, the rise of the pistol, and the fearsome firepower of modern machine guns. Throughout the book, the author provides detailed analysis of these instruments of war and their bloody impact on the course of human history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
