Paperback. "New Realism and Old Reality" provides a profound examination of the philosophical landscape during a period of significant transition in early twentieth-century thought. This work delves into the core tenets of the New Realist movement, meticulously evaluating its claims against the enduring questions of classical metaphysics. The author seeks to bridge the gap between contemporary empirical approaches and the traditional understanding of objective existence.Throughout the volume, D. Luther Evans explores the epistemological foundations that separate the new realist school from its predecessors. He offers a critical analysis of how modern thinkers attempt to redefine the relationship between the perceiver and the perceived, challenging the subjective idealism that dominated previous eras. By situating "New Realism and Old Reality" within the broader context of American philosophical inquiry, the text serves as an essential resource for those interested in the evolution of realism and the persistent problems of reality, perception, and truth. This scholarly work remains a vital contribution to the study of modern philosophy, offering clarity on complex debates that continue to influence contemporary thought. It is an indispensable guide for students and scholars of epistemology and the history of philosophical movements. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
