Early Spanish grammar, belonging to Samuel Kellogg Junior, who fought in the American Revolutionary War, and was personally acquainted with George Washington having been invited to the inauguration in 1789. Kellogg (1755 - 1839) was a well educated and inventive clothier, having patented a cloth shearing machine which ran on water power. The grammar includes "useful Examples of Mercantile Correspondence" possibly of use to Kellogg. With Kellogg's signature and "Hartford" at the upper right title page, as well as two S. Kellogg Jr. stamps at the title page. English and Spanish on opposite pages with duplicate numbering. 8vo, viii, 383pp, later decorative embossed brown paper wrappers.
