Item description from seller

This seems to be a separate publication printed by the author of a paper he read before the American Institute of Mining Engineers a the Montreal Meeting, September 1879. 9x6", 14pp, with two text illustrations of the apparatus. Printed paper wrappers. PROVENANCE: U.S> Geological Survey and then the Library of Congress; the USGS and LC perforated stamp are on the front cover, and there is an old vertical fold through the center of the pamphlet. NOTE: this seems to be rare as a separate printing, with no listings at all in WORLDCAT/OCLC.
