half-leather and marbled paper boards, much worn, front inner hinge cracked, title page missing, otherwise complete, title 'A New Medical Dictionary' is on first page of text, which runs in double-columned format for 1311 pages. Printer is named on last leaf of text as A. &. R. Spottiswoode, of London. On the final page are advertisements for five other works which are all 'lately published' by Robert Hooper. The first (1811) edition of Hooper's medical dictionary (itself an adaptation of Quincy's Lexicon Medicum) ran to 870 pages. This much expanded edition appears to date from the late 1820s. Hooper died in 1835. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 21077
