'Narrative of the Austro-Hungarian expedition in 1872-4 led by Julius Payer and Karl Weyprecht, to explore the Russian Arctic north of Novaya Zemlya, with an account of the Tegetthof's drift in the Barents Sea, the discovery and exploration of Franz Josef Land and the expedition's return by small boat across the Barents Sea to Novaya Zemlya. Included is a great deal of scientific information relating to meteorology, sea ice, aurora as well as the techniques of polar travel and survival'- King. Vol. I, pp. xxxii,335; Vol. II, pp. xiv,303. With a chromolithograph frontis to Vol. I, two double-page maps & 92 illustrations engraved on wood, many full page. Some occasional foxing.
