About the Author
Peter FitzSimons is a journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald, a frequent contributor to the London Daily Telegraph, a breakfast radio broadcaster on 2UE954AM in Sydney, and has interviewed everyone from President George Bush Snr to Edmund Hillary to Diego Maradona. He is also a popular after-dinner speaker and the only Wallaby sent from the field against the All Blacks---unjustly, he swears, Peter is the author of sixteen other books---including biographies of Nancy Wake, Kim Beazley, Nene King, Nick Farr-Jones, Steve Waugh and John Eales---and was Australia's bestselling non-fiction writer in 2001 and 2004. His last military work was the number-one bestselling book Kokoda. He lives with his journalist wife Lisa Wilkinson and their three young children in Sydney.
The author visited Tobruk in April 2006, and before departing laid a flower on the grave of Victorian soldier Ron Barassi Snr VX45220.
